To thine own self be true..

To be yourself in a world which is always trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment, as remarked by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The world wants us to be it’s scapegoat and we have to manoeuvre our way out of it.

Ignore what the world says. Don’t pay heed to it even a little. Just hear what it says and then just forget it.
Go on doing what you want. Learn to filter out what doesn’t fit your perception and lifestyle.

Listen to what the world says and follow it’s rules but in the way you want to execute it. If the world wants you to be disciplined, then show it in actions that get you results in your field.

Say no to Approval seeking

We look towards the world for external affirmation of our beliefs.
For instance, I love watching movies alone as it is so peaceful. It is a personal activity for me. But there are those who can’t understand that feeling where you watch a movie all by yourself to be engrossed in it. You don’t have to talk to anyone and can be in your own world. You are a character in the movie.
“We are always hung up on the need to be elsewhere when we can just enjoy the present moment and learn how to live. “ This is something I cherished listening to while watching Passengers science fiction movie offlate. I felt I was in the starship going to a new planet called Homestead II and will never come back to earth as it’s too overcrowded.
I so wished I could be alone in a starship as I would wake up all by myself before the hibernation terminates as there is a technical pod failure. I would enjoy my loneliness and have a android to talk to in a bar inside the interstellar flight.
You see these feelings can come to you when you don’t listen to the world. You go inside another world created by a movie or of your own imagination.

Trust your instincts and imagination more than what the world has to say to you. Most of what you hear around you is all convenient knowledge passed on like chinese whisper.

Arrest your Focal point

Rabindranath Tagore had a disciple who was a skilled painter. He adviced his pupil to avoid being swayed by others opinions as they only distract an artist from focus.
However, the painter never followed his advice instantly. He sought others feedback and was disappointed. He kept his sketch of Tagore with the original photoframe for exhibition. He asked people to notice anomalies and mark them if any in his artwork.

Obviously people pointed out so many faults that he went back to his master saying he has been wrongly encouraged.
He again exhibited his painting of Tagore with the original picture of his master. But his time he asked people to correct any mistakes they find between the two portraits.
Nobody pinpointed even one mistake.
Then the painter asked Tagore as to why no one bothered to find faults. Tagore said that people find it easier to crib and find imperfections. But correcting them would take talent.
It’s difficult to create a feature than to criticise it.
So the writer told him that you must always have faith in your abilities and don’t need anyone else to rectify you.

Be a dreamer in an endless universe..
