Aloneness

The lonely person is a beggar. His heart is a begging bowl, The alone person is an emperor, Buddha alone.

You can distract yourself for the moment. But it will not help. Aloneness has to be accepted because it is ultimate. It is not an accident; it is the very way things are. It is Tao. Once you accept it, its quality changes. Aloneness is not creating sadness. Your idea that you should not be alone creates sadness. Your idea that to be alone is to be sad creates problems. Aloneness is utterly beautiful because it is profoundly free. It is absolute freedom. How can it create sadness? When it is misinterpreted it looks like loneliness. It is in this aloneness you will find yourself and to find yourself is to find God.
